After two years of classroom training, students at the Touro College of Dental Medicine are getting real-life experience by providing dental care to patients.
(Courtesy of Touro College) Today, 105 students of the inaugural class of Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) at New York Medical College received their white coats and pledged to focus on service to the community in keeping with the mission of the school. This summer, these students will begin caring for patients at Touro Dental Health, a state-of-the-art, 32,000-square-foot dental health facility. Under the supervision of expert faculty, TCDM students will provide reduced-cost dental care to members of the Westchester community and surrounding counties. The practice is designed to handle hundreds of patients daily, providing advanced oral health care in every dental discipline.
It was Dr. Edward Farkas’s vision to open a new dental college in the Hudson Valley. After all, the difficult process in establishing a place to train tomorrow’s dentists had been a contributing factor in New York State having gone nearly a half-century without the launch of a new dental school.

Part of Touro College and University System’s growing cadre of schools devoted to improving healthcare by training professionals in medicine and related disciplines, the Touro College of Dental Medicine (TouroCDM) resides on Touro’s New York Medical College (NYMC) campus in Valhalla, New York. TouroCDM received more than 2,100 applications for the 110 seats of the inaugural class at the school in Westchester County.

Adam Gadbois took five years to earn his bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri, which is not so unusual.
What is not exactly typical is that Gadbois, 19, started his university studies when he was only 14.
