Activity Synopsis
For some people, the safest and most effective way to receive dental services is through the use of sedation or GA. However, there are many people who could have dental services performed and maintain good oral health if alternatives to the use of sedation and GA were readily available. This program will describe the “Shorten-the-Line” Program under development in California and its potential application in New York.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the situation and consequences of people waiting for oral health care using sedation or general anesthesia.
- Describe the concept of “Shortening-the-Line” for people waiting for oral health care using sedation or general anesthesia.
- List the components of a comprehensive system to “Shorten-the-Line” for people waiting for oral health care using sedation or general anesthesia.
This lecture will honor the memory of Dr. Neal Demby, one of the founders of New York State Task Force on Special Dentistry.
