We’ve been checking in on our alumni to see how their first few weeks have gone as they began their residencies and official journey as D.D.S.’s! Dr. Yujun Wang, who is in a prosthodontics residency at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, shares that while his first few weeks have been extremely busy, he is enjoying every minute. ⠀ ⠀ “The part that I enjoy the most is the pressure, which is helping me to further develop both my skills and my attitude,” says Dr. Wang. “The expectations are high, and sometimes you have to redo the case that you spent hours on. But this makes the specialty residency really enjoyable because you can see your improvement week after week.”⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ #tourocollegeofdentalmedicine #dentalschool #dentists #dentistry #dentistsofinstagram #dentistsofinsta #classof2020 #smile⠀ #dentallife #teethpeople #dds #Westchester #westchesterliving #lohud #picoftheday #oralhealth #harvard
We are so excited to share that after more than two years of preparation the Class of 2022 began treating patients at Touro Dental Health on Monday! D3 Joseph Roberti had a great first day working with his partner, D4 Cody Haumann, and shared that he is very excited for his second rotation today in pediatrics. ⠀ ⠀ “My first day was awesome! I assisted my upperclassman partner Cody as he showed me the ropes,” said Joseph. “I helped take impressions for an implant crown, and we had a patient come in for an immediate denture try-in and adjusted it for them. At the end of the day, I did a prophylactic cleaning on our last patient — it went really well!”⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ #tourocollegeofdentalmedicine #dentalschool #dentists #dentistry dentistsofinstagram #dentistsofinsta #futuredds #futuredentists #smile #dentallife #teethpeople #dds #Westchester #westchesterliving #lohud #picoftheday #friday #oralhealth
We’ve been cheering on our alumni these past few weeks as many of them began their residencies and journey as official D.D.S.’s! We checked in with Dr. Jessica Li, who is in a four year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Nassau University Medical Center and is the the first woman in the program in over 30 years. ⠀ ⠀ “I have had a crazy start to residency seeing and participating in cases such as mandible fractures, fractures of the zygomaticofrontal complex, orbital fractures, frontal bone fractures with a bicoronal approach, complex lacerations to the face and other trauma causing complex facial injuries. I take trauma call every other day and every other weekend,” shares Dr. Li. “The thing I’m enjoying most so far is learning and working with my incredibly supportive team! I am learning SO much.”⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ .⠀ #tourocollegeofdentalmedicine #classof2020 #smile #dentallife #dentalschool #dentists #dentistry #dentistsofinstagram #dentistsofinsta ⠀ #teethpeople #dds #Westchester #westchesterliving #lohud #picoftheday
From the moment Susan DiSenso-Browne, D.D.S. became aware of the disparities in access to dental care faced by patients with special needs, she knew she “needed to be involved in a change.” ⠀ ⠀ Her advocacy for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities began while she was still in her GPR program at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She noticed that the inequality in care access stemmed from a significant lack of proper education and training on how to treat patients with special needs, and the realization spurred her desire to become an educator. ⠀ ⠀ Ten years later, Dr. DiSenso-Browne is the director of “Oral Health Care for Patients with Special Needs,” a course she developed at TCDM to introduce dental students to special needs dentistry, with a focus on treatment of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.⠀ . ⠀ . ⠀ .⠀ #tourocollegeofdentalmedicine⠀ #dentalschool #dentists #dentistry #dentistsofinstagram #dentistsofinsta #smile #dentallife #teethpeople #dds #Westchester #westchesterliving #lohud #picoftheday
