Learning Objectives

  • To provide a history of the evolution from behavior management to behavior guidance for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • To provide the clinician with an understanding of Advanced Behavioral Techniques and when to implement them in the treatment of patients with special needs.
  • To gain an understanding of why the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry created guidelines for medically necessary dental care.
