WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY – November 29, 2018 – This month, Touro College of Dental Medicine (TCDM) hosted its 3rd annual Gala at The Ritz-Carlton in White Plains, NY. This year’s event brought together nearly 300 members of the Touro Dental community to raise funds that will support both student scholarships and patient care at Touro Dental Health, the school’s 32,000-square-foot dental clinical teaching facility.

The Gala was a success thanks in part to the efforts of a dedicated Gala Committee chaired by Drs. Evan and Jill Chafitz, of Scarsdale Oral Surgery.

“We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from the entire dental community since Touro College of Dental Medicine was founded just two years ago,” said TCDM Dean Ronnie Myers, D.D.S. “The opening of our clinical training facility this past year has enabled us to fulfill our mission of training the next generation of dentists and oral health care providers while providing access to affordable dental care for underserved populations throughout the Hudson Valley, and we’ve seen this support grow along with us. Our students and faculty can’t do their amazing work without the help of everyone who came out to our Gala.”

This year’s gala also honored members of the dentistry community for the work they do to lead, innovate and support oral health. Distinguished awards included:

Innovation in Dentistry: Scott Parrish, CEO and President of A-dec Inc., a leading manufacturer of dental equipment.

Distinguished Corporate Leadership: Guillaume Daniellot, Executive Vice President of Straumann Group, a global leader in tooth replacement and orthodontic solutions

Creative Dental Technology: Presented in Memoriam to Adrian Jurim, Master Dental Technician, and innovator in the field of restorative dental technology. The award was accepted by his wife, Bianca, and children Drs. Barbara and Alan Jurim who are both faculty members at TCDM.

Community Partnership: Ninth District Dental Association, a regional association with more than 1,600 members, who has partnered with TCDM on a variety of educational initiatives that improve oral health in the local community and advance the field of dentistry. The award was accepted by association President Dr. Gary Scharoff of New Rochelle, NY, and President-elect Dr. Minerva Patel, of White Plains, NY.
