You would think that spending seven years in braces would make a person want to avoid the dentist chair forever. But then you don’t know Mendy Antelis. “It’ll be cool to be on the other side of the chair,” laughed the New Jersey native who is an alumnus of Lander College for Men. “One of the professors at Touro was my periodontist,” he added. Antelis said he was drawn to Touro’s dental school since he had a positive experience as an undergraduate in the Touro system and he has friends in the school. “I know about 15 current students and they all say it’s phenomenal,” said Antelis. “They had the highest accolades for the school and when I visited, I could see how friendly the school was.” Antelis, who worked at a summer camp for children with special needs, hopes to specialize in pediatrics and also wants to focus on providing dental care to those who have special needs. Two fun fact about Antelis; he was a member of the Yeshiva Boys choir and his wife, Abigail, is a second-year student at TCDM.
