Tasmia Majid

When Tasmia Majid was 13, her brother broke his front tooth while playing basketball. “I was so choked up,” remembered Majid. “I told him you’re not going to have a front tooth! But he was very calm. Lo and behold, not a week later, he had a permanent tooth, and I couldn’t believe dentistry could do that.” Afterward, Majid shadowed other dentists and gradually fell in love with the profession. Majid attended Stony Brook University and chose Touro because of how friendly the faculty are. “I didn’t see any other school that treated the students like the future colleagues they will be,” said Majid. “I also realized that there wasn’t that much competition between students, and everyone was helping each other out.”
